Why You’ll Love This Healthy Halloween Snack
- Quick & Easy: Takes only 5 minutes to put together from start to finish.
- Candy-Free Alternative: A much-needed break from the sugar overload of spooky season. Teachers and parents will thank you!
- Kid-Friendly & Interactive: Little hands can easily peel mandarins and help arrange the “pumpkin patch.”
- Budget-Friendly: Requires just three simple, accessible ingredients.
Ingredients You Need
To create your own edible pumpkin patch, you only need three fresh produce items:
- Mandarin oranges (or clementines): Peeled to act as our little mini pumpkins.
- Celery: Sliced into small segments to serve as the pumpkin stems.
- Green Grapes: Rinsed and arranged around the mandarins to fill out the “patch.”
Step-by-Step Instructions: How to Assemble a Pumpkin Fruit Tray
- Peel the Mandarins: Peel your mandarins/clementines (the quantity will depend on how large your serving tray is). Place them upright across your platter.
- Add the Stems: Take a small celery stalk and slice it crosswise into small pieces. Press one piece into the top center of each peeled mandarin to create a realistic pumpkin stem.
- Build the Patch: Surround your mandarin pumpkins with a lush border of green grapes to create the look of a green pumpkin patch.
- Serve & Enjoy! Display proudly at your next fall gathering or school party.

This tray is also a great treat to take to your child’s school Halloween party. The other parents and teachers will thank you for bringing a non-candy treat (because kids hyped up on candy is the scariest part of Halloween! 🙂 )
If you are making this tray for your child, get them involved in the process. This tray is plenty easy for little hands to help. Cuties are famously easy to peel!
